Race, Equity, and COVID-19: Navigating Crises and Building for the Future

Meeting 42
December 2-3, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed persistent and widening disparities among students, families, and communities with respect to health and safety, financial security, and access to high-quality learning environments and experiences. Members of the California Collaborative on District Reform convened virtually in December 2020 to examine the barriers to equity that exist within our schools and communities and to consider strategies for addressing them. The meeting created space for participants to understand both the urgency and the complexity of addressing student needs by hearing from students, community leaders, and district leaders. It also provided a forum to explore emerging district approaches and to consider the evidence of progress that can inform continuous improvement efforts in the spirit of equity. Resources from the meeting are available below.
